Fylde Coast Women’s Aid currently operates three refuges across the Fylde Coast providing safe accommodation to 12 women and their dependent children at any one time. FCWA refuges are safe spaces where you and your children can stay. Refuge is a safe, temporary home for you and your children, with experienced and specialist staff who will provide you with individual support. FCWA can then help you to find new permanent accommodation and recover from your experiences.
FCWA is here to support you in whatever you decide. Although it may feel impossible now, you can rebuild your life free from violence and fear. Whatever you decide, your safety is always a priority for FCWA. Staff at FCWA won’t judge you or tell you what to do.

Samantha’s story
"My Name is Samantha* I have been in refuge now for 6 months with my two children. Before I came here I had a preconceived idea about what refuge was. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I was struggling with every aspect of my life and this was having an impact on my children. So, with the support of my IDVA I decided that I needed to get away from my abusive partner to think and make some decisions about our lives. I was extremely anxious about leaving him and our home, but I knew that something needed to change as my children were unhappy and scared that their father would hurt us."
